Tilery Primary School is the most local school to Katmex, and a relationship was set up a number of years ago through the Primary Engineer Programme.

The Primary Enginner aims to bring engineering in to classrooms with a view to inspire children from a young age about the world of engineering.

Managing Director, David Mitchell said: "We first met with Tilery Primary when we visited the school and worked with children to build moving model vehicles. We realised that the relationship could be mutually beneficial: the children get to learn about engineering through a local company and our staff get to put their skills to good use, working within the community".

The children visited Katmex for a factory tour and to learn about what Katmex can do. Production Engineer, John Donaldson said, "We took the children around the factory showing them all our different processes. Although they were very young they showed a real interest in the machines, especially the robots!".
