Owen Haswell

Junior Quality Engineer – Katmex Ltd

May 2014 - Present

Joining the Katmex quality team in May 2014 as a Quality Engineering Apprentice, Owen has enjoyed a successful 3 year period with the business, which has seen him develop into a respected and promising Junior Quality Engineer.

In 2014 Owen completed his Level 3 engineering diploma with Darlington College, to distinction level, before joining Katmex as a quality engineering apprentice. After completion of a three month introduction period within all Katmex departments, Owen started a Level 4 Engineering Higher National Certificate with Darlington College on a part time basis, whilst working within the quality team the remainder of his working week.

2 Years later and Owen had achieved a Distinction level higher national certificate, gained significant experience within the business and had established himself as vital member of the quality team. Skillsets gained such as advanced inspection, measurement equipment calibration and servicing, internal auditing, Faro arm programming, team improvement exercises and much more, combined with significant customer liaison and communication helped Owen achieve a much deserved Junior Engineer contract within Katmex.

Recognising Owens potential and rewarding his success, Katmex have placed Owen on a Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Engineering, again with Darlington College. His first year results have been excellent, with distinction grades being achieved.

Continued success within this course could lead Owen onto an Engineering Degree and potentially becoming a Chartered Engineer.

Katmex is very happy with Owens progress and excited by his potential achievements within the company. A successful apprenticeship program is key to the future of any business, and we have confidence Owen can demonstrate that.
